Sailing Camp Description Safety is first and most important. Our class instructors are all Level I US Sailing Certified with Red Cross First aid & CPR training certificates. We have a Maximum of 8 Students per Instructor on the water at anytime. Each students must be able to swim 50 feet without a lifejacket. This is determined with a swim test on the first day of class. What the kids do: Our summer sailing classes consist of morning classroom time with fun learning exercises and activities. Then afternoons are on the water. In case of light air we have fun on the water games, with squirt guns, buckets and surfboards. Camp is held rain or shine. In case of inclement weather, kids will watch sailing videos, play games and participate in team building exercises. All our activities teach team building, leadership, and sportsmanship skills. What the kids need to bring: 1. Life Jacket Type III PFD (must fit properly to child’s size and weight) 2. Water Bottle 3. Swim Suit 4. Sack Lunch 5. Water Shoes (closed toes, no sandals or flip-flops. Old tennis shoes work) 6. Sunscreen/Sun-block (apply before camp and at lunch) 7. Extra T-shirt 8. Towel 9. Hat (light color ball caps work) 10. Sunglasses are a good idea with strap. Personal Flotation Devices will be worn any time the participant is in/on the water or on the dock. Except for during the swim test. It would be a good idea to have each of the participant's articles properly marked with their name. GCSEF will not be responsible for lost or stolen articles. GCSEF is not a licensed or certified child care provider. Day Camp for Young Sailors, Race Team Practices and Racing Clinics are for the purpose of providing sailing instruction, not for child care. GCSEF makes no representation that our sailing camp fee is deductible as a child care expense, or for any purpose, on your federal income tax return. You should consult with you tax advisor before you take a deduction for any fees related to GCSEF activities. Disciplinary Problems: We have a strict policy dealing with children with disciplinary problems. The parents will be asked to pick up their children and will NOT receive a refund. Our instructors and students do not have the time to deal with disciplinary problems. We are here for children that want to learn and have FUN! All children participating in the day camp will be required to have an authorization to render medical aid as well as a release and authorization to participate in the sailing events of the day camp on file. The forms must be filled out and signed on or before the first day of the day camp. |
