The Year is Off to a Good Start
First, on behalf of Lex Meyer, Luke Holmes, Ariana Cobb, and Ben Lipari, I want to send along thanks for the opportunity to join the GSC Banquet in January. We appreciate the recognition the club gives to the Junior Program, and the opportunity to be with you. Much fun was had by all, though seeing my Dad dance was very painful.
The Junior’s season is off to a quick start, with the Port Arthur Mardi Gras Regatta in mid-February and the Austin Yacht Club’s Roadrunner Regatta in mid-March. Hoping for fair winds and less snow!
Will your family or friends be staying nearby for Spring Break? All youth sailors are invited join the DFW Metroplex Spring Break Racing Clinic. GSC, along with Rush Creek Yacht Club and Corinthian Yacht Club, is sponsoring this camp at CYC on White Rock Lake, March 15th- 17th. The camp is an excellent way to advance a child’s racing skills through three days of fun and great coaching. We’re excited to have three terrific coaches for the camp:
· Coaching 420’s will be Kelly Gough, a three-time Intercollegiate All-American sailor for UT-Austin, and a National Champion.
· Hunter Farris will coach the Opti line. Hunter is the full time head coach of RCYC and a highly-decorated sailor, having sailed with Hobart and William Smith College to a National Championship.
· Finally, for Lasers, Brett Warfield, a top regional Laser sailor and experienced instructor who currently sails for Oklahoma State University.
For more information about the camp, you may contact Renee Comen at renee.comen@gmail.com or 214-282-9490.
Thanks again
